Actor and songwriter Eddie Pola frequently collaborated with orchestra leader George Wyle to produce memorable songs from the 1950s and 1960s, including a string of popular hits recorded by Doris Day. But their best-known song may be the Christmas classic first recorded by Andy Williams in 1963, “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year.”  In this song, Pola and Wyle paint a charming, traditional portrait of Christmas, replete with caroling, Dickensian “ghost stories,” mistletoe, and convivial gatherings to illustrate the magic of the season.
