# Attractive Visual Media is No Accident
Not only does a visual media designer (including web designers) need to consider what elements they include in a user’s view, but also how to use them. There are a number of Principles one should consider whenplanning their photographs or other visual media.
For example, a photograph of a soccer ball may include largely white and black patches. Do you **balance** the space in the photograph given to each shade? Do you change the lighting so that there is very little **contrast** between the shades? Do you **emphasize** one shade over another? These are just a few examples of how you might apply **Principles of Design** to a specific element in a photograph.
# Your Task
You will use “The Principles of Design and Their Importance” at [https://www.toptal.com/designers/ui/principles-of-design](https://www.toptal.com/designers/ui/principles-of-design). While this places these concepts in the context of web design, the same principles apply to all visual media.
For each of the terms below, create a new slide. Each slide must include **a definition, 2 contrasting exemplar images (or layouts), and rationale as to why each image/layout is an example of that element of design.** You will be creating this in Google Slides, and your text may appear in “Notes” section of each slide as opposed to directly on each slide.
